Must have equipment

Foam Roller

Amazing and versatile piece of equipment which can be used at home to help with muscle/joint tightness and muscle pain. Integral part to aid recovery from intense exercise bouts.

Our recommendation is the Muscle Mauler priced at a reasonable £22.97 on Amazon.

Pilates Mat

A movement practice for example Pilates, Yoga or a martial art is always recommended to encourage our bodies to move in ways which become restricted in modern life.  If you don’t want to do this in a class, a regular at home stretching and mobility session is perfect.

You can pick up a Pilates Mat on Amazon for £12

Rock Tape

Despite lack of strong scientific evidence supporting its use, I have found Kinesiology to be very effective in pain management and I fully support its use. If you need a demo on how to use it, just ask.

RockTape is the best brand I have used due to its robustness and adhesive properties.

Food Scales

A good pair of food scales are worth their weight in gold. Not everyone needs these as portion sizes can normally be worked out by palm sizes. If you are an athlete or want optimum body composition these may come in handy.

The Salter 1036 scales are a great and accurate product that provide value for money.

Useful books

Becoming A Supple Leopard

The self proclaimed “Ultimate guide to Resolving pain, preventing injury and optimizing athletic performance”. I honestly don’t think that this statement is too far from the truth. This book is especially good for sporting related pain.

Becoming A Supple Leopardis a great reference for athletes of all types. Enjoy the read!

Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers

Ever wondered if stress could actually make us sick? This excellent Book by Dr Robert Sapolski details exactly how stress can affect our bodies and make us ill. It is a fascinating read which will provide you with ways to counter the effects of stress.
